New Concrete Swimming Pool with Crazy Paving Terraces.

    Recently purchased  villa with mature garden and beautiful trees, but without the main attraction over the summer: the swimming pool.

    Located in Bonalba Golf – Alicante, the property has the golf course right in front of the balcony.

    For the digging of the pool we’ve crained a digger over the fence. The the soil was taken away, by breaking the old picket fence and loading it into the truck directly.

    After that, we’ve prepaired the walls, the metal structure and then we’ve Gunited the walls and floor. Building a Gunite pool with premade concrete from the plant, after it gets dry, it acts like a monolith, a very strong structure.

    In Spain, specially over Costa Blanca area, the most used system is the Gunite ( concrete spray).

    The villa had chippings all the way around and the plan was to pave the area around the swimming pool and the house. We’ve showed the clients other jobs where we’ve used the natural stone / “Crazy paving” and they’ve liked it a lot.

    Under the terraces, we’ve fitted a sewerage system for the rain water, with gutters and drains, plus at each corner of the house, we’ve prepared a drain pipe for the roof. Around the roof tiles, we’ve fitted an aluminium gutter, all the way around, so when it’s raining, the water goes directly from the roof to the bottom street, avoiding to flood the garden and destabilise the terraces.

    The outdoor pool had to fill the corner of the garden, so the best shape for that is the Kidney shape. This type of pool, because it doesn’t have sharp corners is very appealing. The pool steps are also round and the edges are cream colour, similar to the natural stone around it.

    For the pool surrounding terrace, we’ve used a top quality stone, brought all the way from Tarragona, Catalonia. We don’t fit anymore the classic White top caping stone or the Greek border mosaic inside the pool. But, despite of the rustic look, because this stone is very smooth, after finishing it with a cream colour grout, makes it modern and clean.

Another interesting part of the construction was the outside Shower / Toilet.
Without a roof, with just side walls, the shower at the right and the toilet at the left, saves the cleaning after the guests having to go through the house.
